Using Sources – Old and New
We are delighted to present a fabulous Ancient History Teachers Conference themed around the use of ancient and modern sources.
The primary focus will be on Pompeii and Herculaneum, and speakers will include two of the most renowned scholars in this field: Professor Alison Cooley, author of Pompeii and Herculaneum: A Sourcebook (2014) and Pompeii (2013), and Macquarie University’s own Professor Ray Laurence, author of Roman Pompeii: Space and Society (2010) and Pompeii: The Living City(2006).
PLUS – we are delighted to feature Professor Anton Powell on Sparta. Anton is the author of Athens and Sparta: Constructing Greek Political and Social History (3rd edition 2017) and the editor and co-author of the two-volume Wiley-Blackwell Companion to Sparta (2018).
Other world-leading professors will speak on Egypt, Alexander the Great, Persia and Rome. The conference program will be rounded out with short presentations on innovative learning and teacher-support materials.
